The Department of Clinical Pharmacology at ACTREC was established with the singular focus of filling the existing gaps in cancer therapeutics in India. The department founded by Dr. Vikram Gota set its roots in July 2008 under the patronage of the prestigious Tata Memorial Centre at the newly built Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research, and Education in Cancer(ACTREC) in Kharghar. Since its inception, the unit has strived to establish itself as a centre of excellence in the dual areas of pre-clinical research and early drug development.
Our objective is to conduct innovative research that helps improve outcomes for oncology patients in India by focusing on translational medicine, pre-clinical and clinical pharmacology. With a GLP and GMP compliant laboratory, we aim to build capacity in therapeutic drug monitoring. We hope to conduct more phase 1 studies to help launch affordable cancer care generics.
To excel in personalized therapy and drug development in oncology achieved through translational research conducted in a state-of-the-art environment involving or in collaboration with world leaders in the field.
Vision - 2020
“To improve overall outcomes and provide affordable healthcare in oncology specially to the poor sections of India in cancer through innovative research and education, as we move towards our goal of being a world-class centre in clinical pharmacology and translational medicine .“
